South Sea Tour

I was picked up in a huge bus which had the air conditioning on at full blast. When I arrived at port, I was quickly checked in and I was the last passenger to board a huge catamaran. On the journey to the island, nobody chatted to me. As we arrived at the island we were greeted by some of the staff singing to us.

When I had disembarked the boat , a talk was given about the activities that I could do and I was given time to set up my stuff under some shade. The first activity was a Submarine tour. It was a glass bottom boat that stank of petrol fumes. The view was very clear and amazing but it only lasted 10 minutes.

I started chatting to a lovely lady called Vera from Finland whose next stop was the North island in New Zealand. Then I did some snorkeling, the announcement said that there would be a tour 15 mins of the reef but the crew just let us snorkel about. I met a young lady called Beth who came from Brighton and was travelling on her own.

I also chatted to Moses originally from Fiji, who went to live in Sydney and worked for Quantus for 30 years and his wife Helen, who was English and was a teacher. They had been married for 50 years. They kept an eye out for me.

Lunch was very good and afterwards I had a quick snorkel and saw 2 different types of sea cucumbers and star fish. It was nice to chill and after another snorkel tour which was quite choppy, Beth joined me in my sheltered area.

A big rainfall and some thunder was heard and we all scuttled under some shelter. When I asked to take a photo of Moses and Helen, he apologised saying ‘tell your husband Sorry we’re a bit pissed!’

As we all waited for the 5o’clock departure, the staff sang to us.
On the way back the bus driver answered his phone whilst driving.

I met up with Charlie and walked around to Yu’s house, hoping to see her but they were out. I quickly walked back and had a quick shower and then walked up to met up with Ruby, a Fijian lady who I had met on Tuesday.

I asked the daughter of the Airbnb to hold the gate which saved me a big walk around. She left it open then walked off which I found very rude as I was walking that way and most people would strike up a conversation.
Ruby arrived at the bus stop a little late but had rang me to warn me. Her
Uncle was a taxi driver and he gave us a lift to the restaurant. It was a very stitled conversation and every now and again the singer who was performing at the restaurant started a new song and Ruby gave him a strange stare. It was a lovely break from Airbnb and the air was a bit cooler as we walked to be picked up. I slept better and had a lie in
