I slept very well considering that the toilets were outside. I made myself think that I did not want to go out in the dark which helped. It was a beautiful but cold morning as the heavens were a majestic blue and there was not a cloud in the sky. The showers were very clean with no spider’s webs in sight. My breakfast consisted of banana on toast.

I headed off after dropping off the key. There were a lot of dry rivers that I crossed and the day became warmer. After 2 hours of driving, I had to have a wee, so stopped at Waikuku. I was going to potter around but after speaking to the lady in tourist information centre and a quick look around, I decided to carry on.

At Christchurch I picked up a polish hitch hiker called Weronika smolinska

We chatted as I drove to Timaru, when we got there I dropped her off near the information centre, a kind lady there showed me what I could see. She recommended an excellent cafe so I went to authur street which sold gluten free food. After lunch I then drove to Caroline’s Bay.

At Caroline Bay, there was a lovely sandy beach, a rose garden, willow arch as well a domed parrot cage.

At 3pm I set off for the last leg of the journey, towards the end of the drive I nearly got lost as Google maps sent me around elephant rocks. Thankfully I was able to resolve the issue and sorted myself back on the correct road. As I pulled in there was my good friend and her children outside their house. Izaak gave me a guided tour of their home which has had major work done to it. Tristan arrived later and we all chilled and had Mexican chilli for tea.

Didn’t know there was a bag named after me!!!
